The communication of the gaze

We talk about the eyes being the “windows to the soul”, so maybe we are connecting souls. We need to learn to be vulnerable and look others in the eye. We cannot lie with our eyes and perhaps we are learning to be honest.

We need to practice total focus on the other. And beyond that, we should simply get into the habit of maintaining comfortable eye contact with people in a relaxed manner.

I believe humans must communicate with each other through their emotions. Our emotions are our truth. Our minds can go out there and augment or complicate things, but at the core of who we are, our emotions will reflect exactly where we are as humans at that moment. And when I say, with humans, it's because a lot of times, we're acting like robots, trying to be totally controlled by our brains.

We were taught to suppress our emotions. We were taught to be serious. We were taught to "keep it to yourself". Even as children, we are told to go to our rooms to hide unwanted emotions from other people.

But of course, when we erase emotions from our lives, what are we left with? A machine? A clear system? A cold, clear, crisp and simple life?

But as humans we are capable of so much more.

So let's imagine that emotions aren't just something you feel. It's not just feeling happy, because things go our way and sad when they don't. What if our emotions are communicating a lot about who we are right now? What if even happiness and sadness contain bigger messages than simply our response to a situation?

Now, we are sitting in front of a loved one, looking into each other's eyes, silently. Silence is important at this time, otherwise our words will limit true communication.

As we look into each other's eyes, we open our hearts. We allow our souls to be seen. We know it's happening because we can feel things. Perhaps we feel happiness, fear, sadness or euphoria. We may feel hot, cold, nervous or excited.

Silence removes the limitations of language.

Eye contact keeps us together.

And now our souls can speak...

Through our emotions...

From here the exploration is endless... in friendship, in raising children...

And definitely romantic love.
