Enhancing the senses

Having acquired the use of the inner senses, having overcome the desires of the external senses, having overcome the desires of the individual soul, and having acquired knowledge, now prepare yourself to really get on the path. The path has been found: be ready to walk it.

We know little about our external senses, but each sense has a double dimension. For example, the eyes. They can look outside. This is just one dimension of your role. They can also look inside. This is your other function. Or the ears. You can hear what's going on abroad. This is a function, a dimension. You can also hear what's going on inside. This is the other function, another dimension.

Each direction has two doors. One opens to the outside world; the other opens to the inner world. Each sense is both external and internal, but we use our senses in only one way. We become fixed; we forget that these same senses can be used to reach the interior.

Having acquired the hidden dimensions of the senses, many things can become possible. A new world opens before you. The interior is as vast as the exterior; the interior is as immense as the exterior. You are right in the middle: you are between the inner universe and the outer universe.

The exterior is vast. They say it is infinite, without end, without beginning; there are no limits to it. The same thing is also true for the interior. No limit - the interior space is infinite. The outside is being researched by scientific methods. The interior can be searched using yogic methods.

Science has developed a lot and has acquired immense knowledge about the outside world. But the inner world has been forgotten; you don't think about him anymore. Today, we are rich with regard to the outside world, outside experiences, and we have become absolutely poor, beggars, with regard to the interior.

But what is the advantage of conquering the outside world if, by conquering it, you lose yourself? Losing yourself, what do you gain? Even if you conquer the whole world, nothing will be gained. If you lose yourself, then the very meaning of life, its own meaning, the beauty, the truth, the good, everything is lost. Man can accumulate things, accumulate powers, at the cost of losing himself. However, the fundamental point is missed.

Science tries to expand the external senses. Nowadays, through mechanical devices, we can look into the distant space. The eyes are enlarged by the scientific method. We can currently hear over long distances. Scientific technology expands our ears.

The same is true of the inner senses. Through meditation, yoga, tantra - internal technologies - the inner senses are expanded. And, once expanded, many things are revealed to you.

Unless they are revealed to you, they will always appear to be myths, superstitions. We hear and read many things about Buddha, Jesus, Krishna, which we cannot believe. Mohammed, Zarathustra, Moses - they all seem mythological today, because everything they say we cannot experience for ourselves. We lost touch. Moses says he heard the voice of God on Mount Sinai. How can we believe this? We have never heard anything similar.

If you go to a primitive tribe and say that through the radio, we can hear voices emitted from great distances, the people of that tribe cannot believe it. Or, if you tell them that, on television, we see images of things that are happening in very distant places, they will not believe it, because they have never experienced such a thing.

Likewise, we have become primitive with regard to the interior. Moses says he hears God. Jesus talks to his father who is in heaven. To our eyes, they look neurotic. They must be crazy. There are many studies about Jesus, psychological studies, which claim that he must have been insane. “What does he mean by talking to God? Where is God? How can you talk to him? And how can God talk to you? Jesus must have been insane. You must have had some hallucinations and you must have believed them. He was a neurotic. ” In reality, he looks like a neurotic because we have become primitive with regard to the inner world.

If your senses are refined, if your inner senses are alive, if you come to know how to use them, you can also tune in to the divine. You can hear, you can see, you can get in touch with the mysteries. They always exist. Moses is not a neurotic - we are the ones who become primitive. Jesus is not crazy - we are the ones who lose touch with the interior.

Because if the desires of the external senses are alive, you cannot move inward. Desire means the way to go outside; the path that leads out. If your mind is still longing, you cannot move inward.

That is why there is so much insistence on being-without-desire. It is not a moral concept. Being-without-desire is a scientific concept. If you want to move inward, your mind must lose all desire to move outward. Otherwise, how can you move inward? It's pure math.

If you want to go left, you must abandon the desire to go right. Otherwise, one leg moves to the right, while the other moves to the left. You will go mad; it will be insane. It is impossible to move in two directions at the same time. Desire takes you out. Being-without-desire, inside.

If you are still self-centered, you always think in terms of your own ego; according to their own individuality, their own interest. In that case, the deepest truths of existence cannot be revealed to you. You are not ready for them; it is not worthy of them. Furthermore, this revelation, at this point, can be dangerous. Try to understand that.

Science, for example, has now managed to understand some basic mysteries about matter. Science forced the matter to reveal some secrets about atomic energy. This revelation was very destructive. The man is not yet ready, he is not yet worthy to know such a powerful secret. Science forced matter. Science was and is aggressive.

The following words are attributed to Einstein: “If I were born again, I would not want to be a scientist. I would rather be a plumber. Everything I did is destructive. Everything I have revealed, throughout my life, is useless and harmful. Everything indicates that I will be able to be one of the people responsible for the destruction of all humanity. ”

His last days were one of profound suffering. A secret had been revealed, but the man was not yet ready, he was not yet worthy of that revelation. The man is still childish, stupid, foolish. That immense power - atomic energy - could not be delivered to him. But now politicians have taken over the secret. And politicians can only be stupid, they cannot be anything else, because anyone who has political ambitions is selfish. The desire to conquer power is the ego's desire and the ego is the most stupid thing there can be. It forces you to do anything; the ego is crazy. Political ambition is an ego obsession.

Scientists have discovered some secrets and politicians have seized those secrets. So they destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And now, they are ready to destroy the entire planet. The entire Earth can be destroyed at any time. We currently have more destructive forces than would be necessary to destroy the Earth; we have seven times more. We can destroy seven Earths like this; this is not enough. And we are developing more and more destructive powers. For what? Why is there so much desire for death and destruction? Einstein says it was foolish for scientists to force nature to reveal certain secrets, of which man was not yet worthy. But you can do it, because the matter can be violated.

But inwardly, you cannot do the same ... Consciousness cannot be forced. No inner secret can be revealed to you, unless you are ready for it. Unless it is beneficial to you and others, it cannot be revealed. Having overcome the desires of the individual soul - the ambition, the ego, the desire for power, the idea of ​​being the center of the universe - unless you have overcome those desires - the deepest secrets of consciousness cannot be revealed to you.

All that we have been concerned with so far has been a work dedicated to consciousness: to your own consciousness, to subjective consciousness. Until now, all sutras were for working, acting, altering, transforming, changing subjective consciousness. When someone becomes fully aware of his subjective world, he can enter reality.

Remember this: if you move inward, you move into the subjective; if you move out, you move towards the goal; if you move beyond both, you move in reality. The goal is not reality; the goal is only a part of reality. The subjective is also not reality. It is, in turn, a part of reality. When subjectivity and objectivity are both transcended, you enter reality. If you use your senses for the outer journey, you will reach objects. If you use your senses for the inner journey, you will reach the subject, the connoisseur. Through the exterior, the object: the known. Through the interior, the knower: the subject, the self. But each of them is only a part. The reality consists of both.

In fact, the two are one. This we call brahma: the Supreme Reality. You cannot enter the ultimate reality through the object or through the subject. You need to lose both. That is why to know the soul, you need to use the internal senses, and to know the matter, you need to use the external senses; but to know Brahma, you don't need to use any sense, be it external or internal. If you want to enter the ultimate reality, the senses must be totally abandoned, both external and internal. Without the senses, you enter reality. That is why Shankara cannot admit that science knows reality. He says that science knows only the goal. And he cannot admit that those who defend the absence of Brahma know the reality, because they know only the subjective self. Only those who go beyond both - beyond this duality of object and subject - know the Supreme Truth.

If you are willing to abandon the distinctions between the objective and the subjective, you can ask directly. Ask the land, air and water about the secrets they keep for you. You can ask the elements directly. If you are willing to abandon the division between the subject and the object, if you are willing to abandon all thoughts, if you are willing to abandon your mind, your mental action, if you are willing to make space in you and become empty, you can ask the elements about the secrets they hold for you.

And what secrets do they contain? Buddha lived in this world. It is registered in the earth, in the air, in the water, in the sky, in space, in all things. The event of a Buddha is such a huge phenomenon that the universe records how it happens. Krishna danced on this land. He's registered. The phenomenon itself is so culminating that the earth cannot forget it, the sky cannot forget it. They register it. Everything that happens of such magnitude is registered by the elements.

You can ask directly. If you are totally empty, you can ask directly, and the earth will reveal its secrets. If Krishna really gave Gita's sermon on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, it must be hidden somewhere in the air, in the heart of the air. If you are ready, if you deserve it, air can reveal the most secret doctrines to you.

You will feel very strange when it is revealed to you, you will feel very confused, because the Gita that was recorded by man means nothing; is deeply wrong. Many things have been designed into it, many things have been removed from it. It is not the real thing; it is just a human record. And it is natural for the human mind to err.

But the elementary forces of nature also register, and their records are absolutely true, because there is no mind that interprets, alters, adds or suppresses. The purest is registered there. If Muhammad spoke, if Jesus spoke, it is recorded there. The Earth cannot lose contact with beings so highly evolved, so highly developed, with transformed beings. She cannot lose contact with them; the contact remains. It can be revealed to you. The development of your inner senses will make you able to penetrate this.

Ask the Earth saints about the secrets they keep for you.

We exist in the body, but there are many saints around it that exist in an incorporeal state. The human spirit can exist both in a body and in a non-corporeal form. The non-corporeal form is still part of the universe; is still in the world. It did not escape him; the release hasn't happened yet. This incorporeal form is subject to return, it tends to return. It simply waits for the right uterus.

There are many sacred masters who exist in a non-corporeal form, who are not fully enlightened. When a being is fully enlightened, he disappears from his body and form. It disappears completely; dissolves at the source of the world. Buddha, Jesus - they dissolved, returning to the original source. However, there are many others who are not fully enlightened, but who have come to know many things, to understand many beautiful things, many truths (but not "the" truth). They understood many, many things and reached a certain level. They are not enlightened, but they have reached a certain level. For this reason, they are called “saints”. They can help you a lot. If you are open to them, you can contact them. In theosophy, they are called "the Masters".

The book Light on the Way was dictated by the Masters to Mabel Collins. The Masters know many secrets that have disappeared from Earth, from the records of humanity, or have been distorted. Or we simply cannot read them, because the language has been forgotten. It is not yet possible to know what is written in the Harappa Mohenjodaro culture. It remains a secret. We know that something is written, but what is written, we don't know. The form remains, but the keys are lost. We know many scriptures from different cultures, but the language has been lost. These saints can reveal many things that remain preserved. They can remind us. You can contact them if you are silent, innocent, moving inward. If you are using your inner senses, you can get in touch with them and your life can be transformed very easily. You, alone, can take many lives to reach the goal; but with these saints, it can become easier.

And there are many of them. You just need to be open, fearless, willing to receive guidance, and then guidance will be given to you. But before you can receive it, you need to be ready for receptivity, for deep receptivity. Through meditation, that receptivity will manifest itself in you. And there is no other way. Only through silence will you be able to hear something that comes from beyond.

Remember one thing constantly: you need to become increasingly silent and focused within yourself. Whenever you have time, close your eyes and move inside. Do not be busy when there is no occupation, do not remain busy unnecessarily. I see people who are unnecessarily busy. I have seen people who read the same newspaper several times. They have nothing to do, so they read the same newspaper over and over. They cannot remain empty, they cannot remain unoccupied. Being meditative means learning to remain unoccupied, empty.

Close your external senses and move inward. Use whatever time you find for this, and the day will come when it will become as easy as getting in and out of your home. You leave your home without any difficulty; you return to your home without any difficulty. You don't even have to think about how to get in and out. You leave when you need to leave; enter when you need to enter. The phenomenon of going within yourself becomes just as simple if you practice it. So, you can jump out at any time, and you can jump in at any time.

And once you become capable of that simple movement, you become free. So, the world cannot disturb you. Nothing can disturb you, because nothing reaches you when you are at your deepest center. When you are on the periphery, the world hits you. When you are in the center, you are beyond the world.
