It is a sexual disorder that is characterized by the sensation of pain during sex. This pain, which causes suffering or difficulty in interpersonal relationships. It is not pain caused by lack of lubrication or vaginismus.
It can be superficial or deep pain, and is more common among women. It is due to organic factors (gynecological issues, such as wounds on the cervix and infection in the tubes, lack of hygiene, sexually transmitted diseases, urinary irritation or infection, irritation or infection in the clitoris, among others), or psychological (feelings of guilt in sexuality, various traumas, fears, repressive beliefs and taboos, very rigid religious and moral beliefs, lack of desire, difficulty in understanding and accepting sexuality in a healthy way, among others).
Common generating factors are: memories of abuse, blocks due to very conservative moral and religious beliefs, major life changes, traumatic situations, the size of the partner's penis, lack of libido with a particular person, guilt, traumatic memories, repressive beliefs built around of sex and sexuality and other painful emotional issues in the person's life history.
Types of Dyspareunia:
Primary: When it happens from the first intercourse or attempt at sexual intercourse.
Secondary: When the person had sexual intercourse normally, without pain, and starts to feel pain at a certain point in life.
Situational: When it happens only in certain situations or certain people.
Generalized: When a woman cannot be penetrated without pain or considerable discomfort.
Each case is unique and must be carefully and comprehensively observed, considering the physical, emotional, energetic, vibrational and mental bodies. Spoken therapy associated with body therapy can be quite significant in resolving this dysfunction.
