bartholin's gland
posted by Agni Maharani (Tina)
Many women have never heard of it, but we have two bartholin glands, they are located at the entrance to the vagina, one on each side, they are responsible for our vaginal lubrication.
When can these glands be noticed?
Some women develop bartholinitis, an infection that causes discomfort, abscess and pain. They form small costs that need drainage or removal of the glands.
Infection occurs, in fact, when the fluid is not released by the duct, which is responsible for vaginal lubrication. Stds and poor hygiene habits are also the cause of this infection.
It is best to look for a gynecologist so that the correct diagnosis can be made.
The main types of treatment are:
. Antibiotics (in case of infection)
. Analgesics and anti-inflammatory for pain relief.
. Sitz baths help to eliminate pus.
. Surgical drainage, this occurs in abscess formation.
. Bartholinectomy: total removal of the gland, indicated in cases of frequent recurrence.
Bartholin gland cysts are benign, never fail to seek the proper and trustworthy doctor.
