Why is Sexuality Necessary for Life?

“When your sexuality starts to move, that's a good sign. It shows that something stirred in you, that something became a movement in you, that you are no longer a stagnant reservoir, that you started to flow towards the ocean.” (OSHO, 2014, p. 10).

I imagine you already know that tantric therapy is essentially a work around the sexuality. As a therapist, I always make a point of explaining to my interactants why, from a tantra perspective.

I speak of sexuality as the basis of our entire life, as the primordial source of our creative power. Respect the body and work of all therapists who are serious about it and therefore become able to help many people.]

Each in its own way, various theories and therapeutic practices show that, as human beings, something inside of us is capable of moving us. AND movement is necessary for life. For Freud and psychoanalysis, this force is the libido, desire, which is not very far from tantra, which also faces the sexual energy as the great engine of our life, which determines our way of being and acting in the world far beyond sex and sex life.

That's why a lot of our problems start with some kind of imbalance in this energy, and it's also why tantra works directly with it to help us transform them, move them. When this energy is trapped, stagnant, unbalanced, you feel the same way: no mood, no energy, discouraged, sad, blocked in your projects, no creativity, limited. Life loses its fluidity and its beauty.

From the moment you reconnect with this energy, allow it to flow and start taking steps on your journey towards a healthier and more loving relationship with yourself, with your body and with your sexuality, everything changes. They are all resources for the unlocking and the development of sexual energy and your connection to that energy, so that you become more and more capable of direct it in the best way for your life.

A sexual energy, which in tantra is also called kundalini, is, after all, the creative energy most potent there is. The only energy capable of creating, shaping a new life and, therefore, life itself. It is absolutely necessary for life, it is its raw material.
