Why Am I Tired of Sex?

Sex is exhausting. That's why I tell you: don't avoid it. Unless you know the stupidity of sex, you will not be able to get rid of it. Unless you know what a complete waste it is, you will not be able to transcend it.

It's good that you started to feel tired. This is natural. Sex simply means energy being expended downwards. The energy has to move upwards, so it's nourishing. Then it opens up inexhaustible treasures within you – ais dhammo sanantano. But if you continue into sex like a maniac, you'll soon find yourself completely drained and worn out.

A newlywed couple went to the famous Niagara Falls for their honeymoon. As soon as they arrived at the hotel, they checked in and for three days they weren't seen again, they didn't order room service or anything else.

After a while, the manager started to get worried and decided to find out what was going on.
He knocked on the door and heard a little running inside the room. Then a faded man in his underwear opened the door.
'We were worried,' said the manager.
'Well, we just got married,' replied the man.
'I understand,' said the manager, 'but here you have one of the greatest wonders of the world...'
At that moment, a tiny voice from the back of the room interrupted, 'If you show me that one more time, I'll throw myself out the window.'

You did not understand! Three days straight... The woman was on the point of throwing herself out of the window.
Man can go on living stupidly only up to a certain point. Beyond that point he has to become aware of what he is doing to himself. Sandhan, the time is now. There are far more important things in life than sex. Sex is not everything. He is significant, but he is not everything. If you remain hooked on it, you will miss all the glories of life.

And remember, I'm not against sex. That's why my teachings become a bit contradictory. I'm a paradox. I am not against sex, because all those who are against it remain sexual. I am for sex, because if you go deep into it, you will soon come out of it. The more consciously you get into it, the sooner you will get out of it. And the day one comes out of sex completely is a day of great blessing.

It's good that you're feeling tired of sex. Don't go to a doctor now for some medication. This won't help. This might just postpone your annoyance a little longer. If you are feeling tired, this is a simple demonstration that you have reached the point where you can jump out of it.

What's the point of staying in sex if you're feeling tired? Get rid of it. And I'm not saying to repress it. When you're feeling too much energy for sex and you try to escape it, what happens is repression. But when you are exhausted and tired and see the futility of it, you can let go of it without repression. And to leave sex unrepressed is to be free of it.

To be free from sex is a great experience. The freedom of sex makes your energies available for meditation, for samadhi.”
