Psychoanalysis
The revelation of the unconscious
posted by Gaya Alessandra
There is a part of the human mind called the unconscious which, as the name suggests, is hidden, not conscious. It is this part of the mind that governs and controls people's lives without them being aware of it.
Since always, mental phenomena have intrigued the human being, leading him to practices aimed at curing individuals affected by such facts. With the birth of modern science, those phenomena began to be studied with scientific rigor by many doctors.
It is worth noting that up to this point the existence of an unknown part of the intellect, although felt, remained practically ignored. It fell to a neurologist, Sigmund Freud, to reveal it, as well as to describe the fundamental role played by the unconscious in human mental health. To him, Freud, we owe the creation of Psychoanalysis.
As already mentioned, this part of the mind, now understood, governs and controls people's lives. And, why does the unconscious govern and control people's lives? Because he keeps, possibly, since their conception, the records of sensations and their consequences in the formation of their respective personalities.
The way in which these sensations are registered in the unconscious of a new being will be decisive in the development of their mental health, and, as a result, their ability to fulfill their potential in the pursuit of happiness.
It happens, however, that from birth human beings have wants and needs. Desire to survive as babies: food, affection, affection; further on: counseling, guidance from parents or whoever replaces them.
The unconscious does not age, and unfulfilled desires at the appropriate stage of personal development consume energy that could be used for the purpose of healthy growth of the person.
Furthermore, when human beings face situations that are linked to that unsatisfied childhood desire, they behave, already in adulthood, like the child they once were and desiring, albeit unconsciously, the support of their mother or father.
What is Psychoanalysis? And what role does it play in such situations?
It is the technique that, with the help of the Psychoanalyst, allows the person with depression, anguish, fear, hostility, inhibition, panic to release, through a work of self-knowledge, the energy necessary for their autonomous, healthy and productive development.
