Reverence is the new sexy
posted by Deva Karuno
Everyone likes to feel good about themselves, to receive compliments, to feel loved, loved the way they are.
When we feel, hope and project reverence (which means treating with deep respect), we recognize the presence of the divine within us. That is the meaning of the greeting “Namaste” - the divine in me salutes the divine in you.
What is sexy now?
Do a Google search using the term “what's sexy now? ”No surprise about our popular culture. Sexy is considered synonymous with being young, thin, glamorous, etc. This is a joke, and it is based on the lie that we are just our physical form. Having the right shape, clothes, makeup, money, car, etc. It is an absolute absurdity, which feeds the scarcity paradigm and is totally weakening and destructive. And why are we being fed by all this garbage? What is the benefit of this?
And if we woke up in the morning and decided that we love, exactly as we are, our “defects”, cellulite, the beer belly, would we be out of the market?
We need to wake up to the truth. Awe is the new sexy, as more and more people are waking up to the truth about their own beauty and who they are inside. Redefining the term in ways that strengthen and improve life. There is a growing refusal to bow to the influence of a society that seeks to steal the self-esteem, pleasure and joy of the majority for the profit of the few.
If we really saw the beauty, the majesty and the delicacy of ourselves, we would live with adoration and reverence, as a standard setting. As we find it difficult to see this in ourselves, we find it difficult to see in the people we meet every day.
To truly love the other in physical form, you must see the truth of who this other person really is, the deity in disguise, just like you.
Think of a couple who have been together for decades, sharing love and respect. They discover something new every day. The light in their eyes reveals their esteem for the other. This is reverence, and this is incredibly sexy!
