Tantric Therapy: Orgasm Is a Matter of Quality of Life

Tantric Therapy promotes a new meaning in the sexuality of those who seek it. How body therapy helps in the process of sexual re-education, since, due to the historical, social, religious and cultural context, what is received in terms of sexual education is flawed, often not enlightening, and repressive, generating limiting beliefs and conditioning behavioral. It is a very powerful tool for the healing of trauma and / or blockages and widely indicated for the treatment of the most diverse sexual dysfunctions, among them, the most recurrent in attendance sessions: erectile dysfunction (difficulty in achieving or maintaining erection), premature ejaculation (inability to control the ejaculatory reflex), lack of libido (lack of desire or sexual interest), vaginismus (involuntary contraction of the muscles near the entrance to the vagina), anorgasmia (inability to have orgasms) or dyspareunia (pain during sex) . Still, it is an excellent choice for the path of self-knowledge, as it promotes a wide connection with the body and the discovery of a new body awareness.

But what will happen to the body of those who undergo a Tantric Massage session, an approach on which Tantric Therapy is based?

If considered that during a Tantric Massage session, the chance of having an orgasm, whatever its nature or intensity, increases; what happens, mainly, in the brain, the center of sensations, feelings and emotions?

Recently, the Science Alert website published an article about a study that was carried out to find out what happens to the brain during orgasm. By analyzing images from the fMRI (Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and / or PET (Positron Emission Tomography) technologies, the researchers were able to assess neuronal activity in the brain and measure the cerebral blood flow of the candidates. The main conclusions reached by this study were the following:

  1. The lateral orbitofrontal cortex. This region is the seat of social behavior and is the area responsible for reason, decision making, judgment of values, fear and anxiety. Behold, during orgasm, this region has its activity significantly decreased. Therefore, we could say that having orgasms helps to develop self-confidence to fight fears, as well as being a way to overcome anxiety.

  2. Many spatial parts of the brain are involved in orgasm. Among them: a) Tálamo, which integrates information about touch, movement and sexual memories; b) Hypothalamus, which produces oxytocin and assists in the coordination of excitation and c) Motor areas, responsible for movement, mainly pelvic, during sexual stimulation.

  3. During orgasm, a hormone called dopamine is released. This hormone is responsible for the sensation of pleasure, desire and motivation.

  4. Also during orgasm, the production and release of prolactin, the hormone associated with milk production and breast development, occurs. This hormone is secreted in both women and men and is responsible for the feeling of satisfaction that arises after orgasm.

  5. Orgasm stimulates the brain in a similar way as when using a drug or listening to favorite music. That is, the brain does not differentiate sexual pleasure from other pleasant experiences. It is located in the frontal part of the brain, being slightly above the eye sockets, and in turn, it has a direct connection with the sensory areas and with the structures of the limbic system related to emotion and memory.

  6. The brain releases substances that make the body less sensitive to pain. With the activation of the pituitary gland, located at the base of the brain, oxytocin, endorphin and vasopressin are released, which promote decreased sensitivity to pain, in addition to providing the feeling of intimacy and connection.

  7. Orgasm and pain activate the same areas in the brain. Perhaps that would explain why some people associate "feeling pain" with "having pleasure".

  8. After orgasm, the brain also releases oxytocin, a hormone related to the ability to create social bonds and build trust. Its post-orgasm release produces a feeling of happiness and drowsiness to the body, as well as an increase in serotonin, which promotes good mood and relaxation. In some people, it also promotes the desire to hug and take a nap.

  9. The woman's body tends to continue releasing oxytocin after orgasm, which could explain the motivation of many women after orgasm.

  10. In people unable to feel the genital stimulus, the brain can “remap” to allow the body to experience pleasure. It is possible to feel orgasm from touching the skin (which could perhaps explain the power of Sensitive Massage, the first stage of tantric body therapy and the flagship of all the work done during a massage session).

  11. Orgasm can be a way for nature to trick us into the act of reproduction.

  12. Having orgasms helps the brain to stay healthy, due to increased blood flow.

  13. Finally, having orgasms suggests that ovulation is stimulated in some women.

It can be said, then, that our bodies, both anatomically, physiologically

or biological, they are prepared with all the necessary tools for the development of the feeling of satisfaction, pleasure and well-being, and consequently, with the capacity for self-healing. When the barrier of discovering the body itself is overcome, sexuality and freedom to feel pleasure and have orgasm, becomes something natural and full, and this is where Tantric Therapy helps, showing and leading to the process of self-healing and fullness . Knowing your own body and allowing it to make the most of its biological capabilities, is to say that it is possible to train it so that sexual energy is used in a more conscious and parsimonious way. When one awakens to this possibility, there is an opportunity for the development of the expansion of quality of life in the most different spheres, which according to Traditional Chinese Medicine, this sexual Chi (sexual vital energy) not only cures diseases, but would also be able to prevent the emergence of others. Perhaps the phrase that best expresses this is "An orgasm a day keeps the doctor away" ("An orgasm a day keeps the doctor away"). In other words, it is a matter of quality of life.
